Calcium CMC

Calcium Carboxy Methyl Cellulose USP/EP is a calcium salt of polycarboxymethyl ether and ether derivative produced from the condensation reaction between alkali cellulose and sodium monochloroacetate. The product has characteristics of dispersing in water, white color, and odorless powder.
Although the product is water-insoluble, it absorbs water and becomes suspension in solution without increment of viscosity after swelling to several times of its volume.
This property permits rapid disintegration, dispersion in water of any compress powder, such as tablets, grains solids or granule-form food etc.
Ca-CMC is mainly used as a disintegrating agent in Pharmaceutical & Nutraceutical Formulations.
